We're looking for future leaders who want to bring their passion and skills to a business that makes a real difference to the lives of Australians. At TAL, there's no limit to where your career can go.

We invest heavily in your development:

We are excited to have opportunities available for Graduates to join us in 2021. These highly sought after positions will work alongside industry thought-leaders with support from dedicated sponsors, buddies and career managers.

The TAL graduate program has been designed to challenge our graduates by immersing them in rotations within their discipline as well as offering experience in other areas of our business. Throughout the two year program you will receive:

  • Flexible rotations across 4 different teams, including one area outside your selected discipline
  • Ongoing professional development support and study days
  • An award-winning formal graduate development program
  • Exposure to mentors and buddy programs to support your development
  • Networking opportunities with senior leaders
  • Bespoke career advice and pathway support

We're selective for a very good reason:

When it comes to choosing graduates for our program, we're highly selective. That's because we see it as a chance to find the future leaders of our business. We're looking for graduates who have:

  • a strong academic track record (distinction average or above) in a discipline such as Business, Economics, Finance or Accounting
  • a strong desire to work in the life insurance industry
  • a well-rounded background with experience across the community and/or extra-curricular activities
  • effective communication skills
  • a curious mind and a willingness to learn
  • an interest in a role that not only embraces analytical skills but is also customer-focused
  • leadership qualities developed through university, work experience and / or extracurricular activities
  • initiative and drive, and work well both individually and in a team environment
  • completed or are due to complete undergraduate or post-graduate studies by the end of 2020, and
  • a desire to help Australians make the most of their life.

Work is a big part of this Australian life, and we work hard to make it one of the best parts. We want our employees to work in ways that suits their life and the nature of their role, so they feel able to meet their work-life commitments and support their wellbeing. Everyone's welcome to work for us – regardless of their age, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, intersex status or any disabilities they might be living with.

The TAL Graduate Program will show you the difference you can make to our business and the lives of millions of Australians.

The day-to-day responsibilities vary in each rotation. From my experience, most of the week is spent working on a project that the team has prioritised, while also spending some time on a task on another project. I also try to find at least a few hours each week to prioritise my professional development as a way to upskill.

Pros and cons of working at TAL Australia

Pros

  • The culture in the company is good. Everyone is nice and willing to help each other.

  • Very flexible. 9-5 working hours expected in general.

  • The people at TAL are always supportive and ready to give great opportunities to Graduates.

  • The opportunity to work across multiple business functions.

  • Great facilities, modern and clean - free coffee, fruit and other snacks provided. Free Gym.

Cons

    • Getting access to required software and the processes for requesting them can feel daunting as they can take an extremely long time.

    • Because the culture at TAL is great, often there is less movement here...more competition for internal promotions.

    • The lack of experience and context around regulatory frameworks, terminology, and technical knowledge is an ongoing challenge and maybe difficult to gauge what is going on without understanding everything.

    • Our company moved from 2 days in, 3 days remote setup to a 3 "team days" in a mandated system with 2 days remote”

    • Strict Cyber Regulations/Policies
