The Role

The Batch and Furnace Graduate Engineer will develop and optimises the furnaces industrial processes of Orora Glass to improve quality and performance.  They will assist with the Furnace melting process management, optimize energy consumption, organize and perform daily furnace activities, monitor critical process parameters and correct any deviation.

Accountabilities involve planning and commissioning new equipment projects, understanding furnace melting and combustion processes, applying statistical analysis to operational data, and operating and maintaining furnace control systems and instrumentation. Environmental protection and health and safety aspects are also a significant concerns. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Optimize furnace processes and equipment operation, coordinate cleaning and development of procedures and SOPs
  • Daily Batch and Furnace relevant data analysis; preparing reports, flow diagrams and charts
  • Daily Activity planning
  • Designing, installing and commissioning new production units, monitoring modifications and upgrades, and troubleshooting existing processes
  • Applying theoretical physics/chemistry knowledge to real applications
  • Managing the cost and time constraints of projects
  • Assist the Furnace Process Lead position within our continuous improvement structure

What We’re Looking For

  • Chemical Engineering Degree
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with a variety of stakeholders
  • Able to manage multiple projects and shift focus and priorities according to production demands
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Positive attitude and ability to work under pressure
