Harry O'Reilly

Days vary as a consultant depending on the project I am working on. I have discovered I am most productive in the morning, so I tend to block out time to get a head start on my tasks for the day, unless there’s any meetings booked during this time.

5.30 AM

Rise & Shine.Wake up and make a beeline for the exercise bike in my garage or go for a short run if the weather is nice

6:00 AM

Get ready for the day. Post workout, I go straight into a freezing cold shower and begin my morning skincare routine. This always wakes me up and gives me energy to start the day. Cook a quick breakfast (eggs on toast, sometimes with a smoothie), take vitamins and prepare a cup of coffee for my commute

6.30 AM

Start the commute to the city. Drive to the station and board the express train. I tend to research what analysts predict will happen on the stock market, play sudoku and also flick-read the AFR on the train

7.15 AM

Arrive in the city. I arrive at my station before 7:15am. This means the myki fare is free (I have become stingy since the price increases)Begin my short walk to the gym

7.30 AM

Quick Workout. I get a light resistance training in during the morning, get changed into my business attire and walk my way over into the office

8.30 AM

The opening of the laptop. Launch outlook to go through unread emails. Double check my calendar for the day. Read the brekky news (KPMG’s daily internal news email) to see what is happening across the firm

9:00 AM

Standing

‘Productive Time’. Days vary as a consultant depending on the project I am working on. I have discovered I am most productive in the morning, so I tend to block out time to get a head start on my tasks for the day, unless there’s any meetings booked during this time.

11:00 AM

Second Coffee. I recently changed team, so my goal is to get to know everyone as fast as possible and focus on expanding my network. I use this as an excuse to head to the café upstairs and get another caffeine hit. It’s awesome to have a coffee cart upstairs where people get together to socialise, network and catchup. Whenever I am not busy, you will often find me here 😂

11:30 AM

Close out morning tasks. Leveraging another caffeine hit, I like to utilise this time finish off any tasks I can, so I feel at ease after lunch and can put my mind on other things

12:30 PM

Lunch time. I try to bring a sandwich to work, but I am guilty of being persuaded into buying sushi with my mates. Some days I will go for a 10-minute walk to get some sun breakup, but I prioritise having lunch with my team as much as I can

1:30 PM

Attend meetings, and finish off remaining tasks. Focus on closing out tasks for the day, attending meetings as they arise and planning the rest of the week

4:30 PM

Look ahead to tomorrow. Organise the rest of my day, ensure meetings are booked and blockers are removed from my calendar

5:15 PM

Commute home. Catch up on all the NBA action that occurred throughout the day. I am an avid fan of the Boston Celtics, and will watch the condensed version of their games, or listen in to a podcast to unwind

6:00 PM

Arrive home. I am fortunate enough to have dinner prepared when I arrive home on most occasions. I use this time to catchup with my family and play with my two dogs

7:00 PM

“Me time”. As the day ends, I’ll typically visit or facetime my girlfriend, play basketball, pool or darts with my mates or jump in my spa to recover if I have had a big day of exercise

9.00 PM

Prepare for Tomorrow. Before I go to bed, I iron my clothes, pick out my running gear and gym outfit, and if I am being good I will pack my boring sandwich for the next day

9.30 PM

Self-care. Before bed I am staying in the habit of using Red Light Therapy every night, and maintaining my skincare and oral hygiene routine

10.00 PM

Bedtime. 10pm is my ideal bedtime each night, but I am guilty of scrolling on my phone!
