Jess Wang

We have a problem solving session with the team, where we discuss our progress so far, where we are seeing the biggest opportunities and any challenges or roadblocks.

7.30 AM

I will start my day by getting myself ready, having some cereal for breakfast and feeding my cat before heading out the door. I will work from home some days, but today I am heading into the Melbourne office.

9.00 AM

I spend a few minutes checking my emails and look at what is on the agenda for the day - the day then kicks off with a 30 minute stand-up, where the team discusses our priorities. My current project is a cost out transformation, and we are currently in the diagnostic phase where we are identifying opportunities for cost savings across various categories in our client.

10.00 AM

I spend the morning looking at data the client has sent through. I clean and refine my excel model based on the additional information we have received, and we discuss with our internal subject matter experts to valid our hypotheses on our savings opportunities.

12.30 PM

The team stops for a lunch break – I accompany some colleagues to the downstairs café to get a coffee and lunch.

1.00 PM

We have a problem solving session with the team, where we discuss our progress so far, where we are seeing the biggest opportunities and any challenges or roadblocks. Today, we discuss opportunities in optimising pallet spaces in transportation. We get some advice and guidance from the partners which helps us to understand where to focus.

2.00 PM

I focus the mid-afternoon on preparing slides for an upcoming meeting later that week – we work on the storyline and how to make our messaging succinct, whilst conveying our findings.

4.30 PM

I have a few more meetings with the client and wrap up the day with a quick catch up with my manager to make sure that the work is heading in the right direction.

6.00 PM

I pack up my things and head to the gym - it helps to take my mind off work and stay active! I get home, take a shower before fixing myself and my cat some dinner.

8.30 PM

I check for any more emails or messages that may have come through, tie up some loose ends from the day and plan for the next day. I catch up with my roommate when she gets home, and wind down for the night to relax and recharge for the next day ahead.
